Our tests are designed to determine the efficacy of OxiTitan Antimicrobial Coatings in the most adverse conditions by using test protocols designed to closely duplicate environments in which we live and work in. It should be emphasized that our laboratory investigations are designed to reflect and exceed real-world performance, and are actually more challenging than standard test protocols: Typical room temperature, typical or higher ambient humidity, microbes dried onto surfaces just as found in most human touch environments. Since it is already widely established science that older photocatalysts work with higher energy UV light, all lab tests were conducted using ONLY TYPICAL ARTIFICIAL ROOM LIGHTING. Patent pending OxiTitan is the only true visible light reactive photocatalyst antimicrobial on the market. It is a strong photo-oxidizer with both UV light AND visible light. The presence of natural light and/or stronger artificial lighting will increase the efficacy of OxiTitan’s reduction of bacteria, virus and VOC s.

The lab test results also show the strong electrostatic trapping effect of OxiTitan upon immediate contact with a pathogen. There is a bacteriostatic effect even in the dark, which means a microbe that contacts the OxiTitan coated surface ‘sticks’ there. Microbes which don’t get transferred from a surface are less of a threat for nosocomial infection. However, under many conditions, even trapped bacteria can continue to grow and even evolve into biofilms, so the continuous reduction by OxiTitan’s photomineralization is the key to maintaining self-cleaning surfaces. All reduction results are comparisons to controls, surfaces without OxiTitan. Absolute reduction numbers are pointless since bacteria in the real-world usually decline over time, rather than surviving at a steady state, due to hostile environments. This is particularly true of Gram negative bacteria, since they die rapidly in the absence of water (i.e. outside of the body), while Gram positive bacteria, such as Staph, can live for weeks and multiply on surface. The killing time of OxiTitan is also correspondingly more rapid in the real world.
