MOLD & MILDEW REDUCTION

The unsightly and destructive fungal spores commonly referred to as mold, yeasts, fungus and mildew are everywhere, but only visible to the naked eye when colonies grow. Fungi can regrow from dormant survivor spores which are among the hardiest of all organic challenges, surviving highly acidic solvents and cleansers, freezing and heat, even growing in fuel. EcoActive Surfaces has tested OxiTitan against deadly endospores (see MICROBIAL TEST of C. difficile, 91% reduction) and demonstrates excellent antifungal capabilities in one of the most challenging fungus reduction tests, the US Military Standard 810G.

FUNGUS REDUCTION STUDY

This a Military Standard test 810G, 508.6 for fungal growth, mold and mildew, using multiple spores in optimum growing conditions of saturation humidity, for 28 days. The OxiTitan coated material is an ideal fungal host: woven synthetic fabric. The OxiTitan coated webbing had only TRACE growth (#1 Rating) versus the untreated which had HIGH growth (#3 Rating) with possible structural damage. The two tests were performed by a leading US mold and mildew lab, Microstar Labs. Test results showing pretreatment and OxiTitan coated are presented below.

OUTDOOR RV STUDY

Mold and mildew is just one component of what is perceived as ‘dirt’, particularly outdoors. However, along with inorganic dust and dirt, fungal growth is what makes surfaces appear unattractive. This study is a 22 month environmental test of an OxiTitan coated surface, demonstrating organic reduction and hydrophilic self-cleaning. Photos courtesy of our customer, MicroClean Green, Inc.
